Course Overview:

This course provides you with some of the essential knowledge and skills to protect sensitive financial data from cyber threats.  It covers the fundamentals of cybersecurity, detailing prevalent threats and their impact on individuals and organizations.  Throughout this course, you will learn best practices and tools for safeguarding data, including strong password policies, multi-factor authentication, encryption, secure communication, firewalls, and VPNs.

Introduction
Cybersecurity, also known as information technology security, refers to the practice of protecting systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks.  These cyber-attacks are usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information, extorting money from users, or interrupting normal business processes.  As you likely already know, cybersecurity encompasses a variety of technologies, processes, and practices designed to safeguard all types of electronic devices.  This includes computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks.
